Remove unused variable; fix what it was supposed to be doing. (and document it a bit for the next time through here)

Updating the manual is a large task and happens only irregularly.

The supplements contained herein describe anything that's changed
since the last major revision of the manual.

As of this writing, the last major revision of the manual was for AG 2.0.

   mansupp-201.html  contains updates for AnaGram 2.01.
   mansupp-240.txt   contains updates for AnaGram 2.40.
