The netbsd-logo.eps file is used as a reference implementation. All other raster and vector logos are based on this drawing. The Makefile.tnflogo rules may be used to automatically generate color, black, and white images in EPS, PNG, JPEG, and GIF formats (including files, optimized for WWW). A resulting file names are as follows: ${color}.eps ${color}-${bgcolor}-${width}.{png,gif,jpg} web-${color}-${bgcolor}-${width}.{png,gif,jpg} Where ${color} is a colormap of the logo (may be "color", "black", or "white"), ${bgcolor} is a background color (may be "tb" for transparent, "bb" for black, and "wb" for white background), and ${width} is a width (horizontal resolution) for the raster images (specified in pixels; for example, 300). The ${width} parameter is driven by customizable RESOLUTIONS make(1) variable. This variable may contains more than one value to build an images with different desired sizes. The web-${color}-${bgcolor}-${width}.* files are "web optimized", i.e. have reduced number of colors (excluding transparent images) padded with surround border of background color. The PNG files are also recompressed to optimal file size with optipng tool. Among explicit file names the following keywords may be used as meta targets for make(1): all Build images suitable for editing. world Build just all reasonable images. eps All files in EPS format. png All PNG images suitable for editing. webpng All web-optimized PNG images. jpg All JPEG images, {,web-}*.jpg gif All GIF images, {,web-}*.gif color, black, white Only color, black, or white EPS/PNG images. For example: make -f Makefile.tnflogo black.eps make -f Makefile.tnflogo RESOLUTIONS=90 web-color-wb-90.png web-color-wb-90.gif make -f Makefile.tnflogo RESOLUTIONS='600 2400 9600' color The file formats/extensions are: .eps Encapsulated PostScript (vector) .png Portable Network Graphics (raster) .gif Graphics Interchange Format (raster) .jpg Joint Picture Experts Group format (raster) Additional technical info about the Logo: The font used for "NetBSD" word is a Garamond based. The font used for "(R)" sign is Trebuchet MS. The "orange" color - #F26711 (RGB). The "grey" color - #777777 (RGB).
